About

I started taking imaginary photos the age of 4 with an old door latch that served as my “camera”. Unfortunately I don’t remember any of these early photos, but it is from this make-believe beginning that my passion for photography has grown.
The beautiful poster images of stars, nebulae and galaxies certainly influenced my decision to become a professional astronomer, and I have spent many years taking images of the night sky through some of the world’s largest optical telescopes.
During the 5 years I worked at international observatories in Chile, I began to move my photographic gaze from the heavens to the beauty of the world around me. I’ve always been drawn to remote and unusual places, and South America provided the perfect inspiration for my photography.
While I still take every opportunity to photograph fascinating places around the world, these days I enjoy working with people capturing candid moments that truly show their personality. Whether it be during a wedding shoot or a portrait session, capturing the essence of the person is my aim.
Every image tells a story
It can be a story about the situation: located in time, place and emotion. It can be a story about the photographer: the thought processes behind the image and what was learned from the experience.
This site tells both types of story.
