Bridal portraits (or formal wedding photos) are an integral part of most weddings and care should be taken in deciding where they will be taken. The number of locations you need to choose will depend on how much time you have allocated and the wedding photography package you have bought (1 is standard but if you have placed a lot of importance on the photography, you may need to come up with 2 or 3).
- If you are arranging for your bridal portraits to be taken at an inside venue (could be a good idea if it is going to be either roasting or freezing outside), keep in mind that the more natural light, the better. I have more photography-related tips for inside venues in another post.
- If you plan to have your bridal portraits taken at an outside location, remember that the weather is fickle and the light changes from season to season. I have more photography-related tips for outside locations in another post.
- If the location you have chosen has strong sentimental value to you, make sure you explain this to your photographer.
- If you are scheduling your bridal portraits for between the ceremony and the reception, is it a good idea to choose a location that is between the two. This saves on travel time and allows you to arrive at the reception more quickly.
